"Africa" by David Diop (Senegal)

This picture reminds me of the African slavery who wanted to be free.
Africa's map:

I love reading. My favorite books are the twilight saga but I usually read anything that is not comic. I like reading love stories more than anything. Also I better like fiction than history books. People think reading is a waste of time but I don't think such thing. Reading is very interesting but it also depends what books you pick. You need to pick a book that you know you would like, something that is your style not just whatever you find. And the authors are very important when you pick a book because every author has their own style too.

Night by Elie Weisel (Germany)

The story from "Night" was a very sad n cruel true story. The German Government thought it was the Jewish people who had bad luck for their country. They decided to get rid of them so they told them they were only moving to the getthos for some time. Then they couldnt go outside after 7 and couldnt go to school like normal kids. Later on they told them they would have a better life at the concentration camps, that they wouldnt work and spend time withe their families. Jews were happy to go but once they got inside the camps they got separated from their families. The kids got killed because they couldnt work and the babies were used for shooting trainings. They didnt have a life inside, they didnt have food just a piece of bread and sometimes soup. Elie and his father kept together all the time, they were happy because they didnt get selected. The 'Selection' would tell if they were in condition to keep working and if not they would get killed on the gas chambers. They were together till one day his father couldnt go on nomore. At the end the red army rescued him and thats how we know all the mean things Elie had to go through.

What i will remember longest about this book is how he never got rid of his father even if he was old. He always tried to stay with him and keep him alive. He believed they were going to be rescued so he wanted to saty with him. The images that will stick in me is mostly everything because it was so inhumane that i cant forget all those terrible things. It hasnt change my thinking because i always thought that you shouldnt hurt or do mean things to others. You shouldnt blame people for what is happening to you. The saddest and horrififying part was when his dad died and when they didnt have food to eat and when they hit them. And the most touching was when he still have his food to his dad even after the officer told him he could have both because his dad was going to die anyways.

'The Last Judgement' by karel Capek (Czechoslovakia)

The story "The Last Judgement' is a very sad and some love story for me. It was a man that got killed after killing a police officer and during all his life he had killed 9 people. When it was his time for his judgement he talked for a long time with God. they talked about how he had killed those 9 people and the reasons why he did it. God said it was because he felt lonely, because they felt like it, also for fun and thats the reasons why all killlers do that. at the end God told him he could do his judgement because he knew him very well and he could forgive him any time. so the judges were normal people, and they didnt know everything about him.
I really think that the consequences for living a bad life is that you can stay in hell after death. My opinion on the 'final jedgement' is that is true what the story says. The only person that knows you so well is God and he can forgive anything you done in the past. Even close people that know you forgive you for the mistakes you done so ofcourse God would do the same, thats why he lets other people do it for him. Humans shouldnt be mean and inhumane to other humans because they are the same, they are humans and they all have a life that could be beautiful if they want. They all have feelings so they should all be nice and fair to each other.

"First Confession" by Frank O'Conner (Ireland)

Thestory 'first confession' tells us how important the religion they had was. But that they also had wrong thoughts about it too. They little boy was a trouble maker but he didnt mean to do it. It's just like any other kid that does things by impulse. He was getting ready to do his first confession but he was scared because he had to say all the bad things he has done in his life. When he went to the classes he was taking for this, the lady told them a story of someone who didnt say all the bad things, and when he came back he was burning inside and went to hell. The boy got so scared that he wanted to say everything but also was scared cause of the father would think of him. At the end he went, and his big sister too. She was telling him all the things he had to say and when he came out he felt free because he said everything and nothing bad happened to him.

I do go to church and it's very similar to the one on the story. Im catholic and we do confessions so we can feel better for what we have done and so we wont do it again. The traditions and activities my church does are very fun. We have fun on everything but at the same time we pray and things like that. Is a very quiet and peaceful at the church and we all have a great time. Everyone helps each other and offers food and clothes to people who dont have it.

"The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (Columbia)

In the story of "The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World" is very interresing and sad at the same time. When they go and see who was missing from the other villages the ladies made him some clothes bacuse he was to big and tall that nothing was his size. When they decided to send him to the sea they were planing to tie him with an anchor so he wouldnt come back. But they realized the reason why he had came with them and did not tie the anchor on him so he could come back anytime he wanted. Since then everything changed and the people started to make big and tall houses.
The kind of funeral i want my friends and family have for me is simple. I dont want such of a big thing because i wont be there with them no more. I want people to wear all white and not black and i dont want people to cry for me. The funeral i want its not similar to any other i have seen because most of them people wear black and feel all sad. This story reveals how many Latin Americans care for death people even though they didnt know that person. They try to have the best funeral they can.

"The Youngest Doll' by Rosario Ferre (Puerto Rico)

The scariest movie I ever seen would be Freddy vs. Jason. It probably was scary because people died anyways. If you were sleeping Freddy would kill you but if you stay awake then Jason would kill you. Some of the characteristics many horror films share is that they kill people. Also that most of the killers are either already death and ugly or someone from the past and almost died.
The story of "The Youngest Doll" is not scary like movies but it is kind of weird because of the ending it has. The aunt had many nieces so she would make them a new doll every year. The dolls look almost exactly like the girls. Even the sizes of them were similar. When the girls were old enough and married they would make them the last doll and they got to keep it. For the last and youngest girl she made the most beautiful doll. Her eyes were diamonds and it had filling of honey. The girl and her husband the doctor moved to town so she was far from her family. One night the husband came to see her wife and noticed
that the girl was the doll, her heart had a filling of honey.

"No Dogs Bark" by Juan Rulfo (Mexico)

No Dogs Bark is a mexican short story that exlpains the caring heart of a father who want to save his sons life just because thats what his mother would do. But he also doesn't want him to be his son no more because of all the hurt he did to his mother. As the son and father head together for help they start talking to each other so much that they didn't hear dogs following them.

The parent I would be is a responsible, caring, and a fun parent. When my son/daughter becomes a teenager I will treat them like my parents treat me. With all the trust but still not let them go out alone because, I will trust them but not the people he/she hangs out with. In one way im similar to Ignacio is that I would care for my son but I would never tell him that hes not my son anymore. Thats like telling him that you dont love him any more.
